Family Volunteer Trips to Kenya

Can I take my kids on a volunteer trip to Kenya?

Yes, from age 12 with a parent or guardian. Families build Garden Towers together, deliver water tanks and HopeKits, spend time at the Children's Home, and share the same Maasai Mara safari days. Lodging, meals, transport, and park fees are all included in the $3,950–$4,250 per-person price.

Why 12 and older

Service days are long, hot, and hands-on, with early starts and real physical work. Twelve is the age at which most children participate rather than spectate, and stay engaged through a full day in the field.

What kids do

Fill and plant Garden Towers, carry supplies, assemble HopeKits, play and read with children at the Children's Home, learn beading with the Maasai women's groups, and take part in the naming ceremony.

Safety, food, and lodging

Families stay together in the same lodging as the group, all meals are prepared by our chef, water is filtered, and you travel in our vehicles with our Kenyan team the entire time.

What families say changes

Most parents come for the service and leave talking about what their child noticed: how much a Garden Tower means, what a household without a water tank does each morning, how quickly friendship happens without a shared language.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a family discount?

Pricing is per person, double occupancy, and family members can room together. Ask the team about your specific group.

Is Kenya safe for children?

On expedition you are with our Kenyan team at all times, on routes and in lodging we have used for over a decade. Vaccination and medication questions should go to your family doctor.

Will my child be bored on safari days?

Rarely. Game drives are the highlight for most young travelers.
