A Garden Tower is a vertical fabric garden filled with soil and a central gravel column for watering. One tower grows up to 60 plants in the space of a doorway, feeds a family year-round, and costs $25 to build — $50 builds two.
They need very little water, almost no land, and materials that are available locally. Families harvest greens within weeks and sell surplus at the market.
Expedition teams build towers with families at their homes — mixing soil, filling the fabric, planting seedlings, and learning from the women's groups who maintain them between visits.
